💞 Dear Royal Praying Priests, shalom!

💎 “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” (Psm 37:4, NIV)

💎 “Delight yourself in Adonai, and He will give you the requests of your heart.” (Psm 37:4, TLV)

How do we delight ourselves in the Lord? We must celebrate the presence of God, be glad in anything about Him, and believe in His sovereignty even living among the evildoers. If our relation with God is just about performing a religious duty or service, we will never find joy and hope in Him. When we turn our hearts to God, keep company with Him, and enjoy who He is and what He does, His every attribute, every word and every deed are delightful and adorable.

When we make God our exceeding joy, He promises to give the desires of our heart. Some people misunderstand that if they delight themselves in the Lord, every desire of their hearts will be granted. The Hebrew word מִשְׁאֲלֹת (mish’alot) translated as ‘desires’ in Psalm 37:4 comes from the root word שָׁאַל (sha’al) which means to ask, consult or request. It is to put the requests or desires in front of God and consult Him for His wisdom, will, guidance and revelation. The “desire” is not the appetites of our flesh. It is to know, to love, to please, and to live for God. Anyone who delights in God desires or asks for nothing, but whatever will please Him. Therefore, we know that those “desires” are something God desires for us.

Psalm 37:4 is a command not a suggestion. When we make God our heart’s delight, and then we will have our heart’s desire.

🙏Dear Heavenly Father, we submit our body, mind, soul and spirit to You. Help us to take great delight in You and celebrate Your presence in every aspect of our lives. Open our hearts and grant us the spiritual sensitivity to anything about You. You are the only source of joy and rejoicing of our hearts. Our innermost desires are now laid in front of You. Examine our hearts and show us what Your desires are for us. Give us the right attitude toward what You have to tell us, and the willingness to change and to align ourselves with Your will. In the Name of Yeshua we pray and bless You, Amen.
