💞 Dear Royal Praying Priests, shalom!
💎 “I also heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, ‘Behold, the dwelling of God is among men, and He shall tabernacle among them. They shall be His people, and God Himself shall be among them and be their God.” (Rev 21:3, TLV)
Sukkot, the Feast of Tabernacles, is observed on the 15th day of the seventh month for seven days (Lev 23:33-34). In 2021, Sukkot begins at sundown on Monday, 20 September and ends in the evening of Monday, 27 September. It is one of the three pilgrimage festivals on which Jewish people were commanded to go up to the Holy Temple in Jerusalem to worship. The other two festivals are Pesach (Passover) and Shavuot (Feast of Weeks or Pentecost).
In Hebrew, sukkot means “Huts” or “Booths”, and its singular form is sukkah. Sukkot reminds us of the Exodus from Egypt and how the Israelites wander in the wilderness for forty years without permanent dwellings relying on God’s protection and provision. According to Leviticus 23:40, Sukkot is celebrated with joy before God for seven days. In the modern days, Jewish families observe Sukkot by eating and sleeping in the sukkah in yards or on balconies. They pick the best fruit of luxuriant trees, including a citron (Etrog), a palm branch, a bough of leafy trees (myrtle), and a willow branch to celebrate. Sukkot is also known as the Feast of Ingathering or Harvest Festival, which completes the cycle of fall feasts.
All religious festivals are a shadow of the things that were to come (Col 2:17). Sukkot also has its prophetic significance. Prophet Zechariah says that one day all nations will come up to Jerusalem to celebrate the Feast. There is coming a day when the Messiah will rule, and all nations will go up to Jerusalem to bow down before God and worship Him alone! Therefore, Sukkot is also known as the Feast of the Nations. When Yeshua returns and establishes His kingdom, we no longer live in the temporary and flimsy dwellings. God will dwell with us and tabernacle among us! He will be our sukkah and He will shelter us from death, crying, mourning, pain or tears (Rev 21:3-4)! Hallelujah!
Let us worship together! Sukkot Song
🙏 Dear Heavenly Father, on the last and greatest day of Sukkot, Yeshua proclaims that He satisfies spiritual thirsts and the Holy Spirit is given to those who trust in Him (Jhn7:37-39). This year, in the midst of all troubles and turmoils, we are desperate for the great outpouring of the Holy Spirit to quench all our thirsts! Abba Father, we acknowledge that You are our ultimate protection and shelter when the whole world continues to battle against the coronavirus. We look forward to Yeshua’s return, and we welcome You to dwell among us and wipe every tear of our eyes! On that day, every nation, tribe, people and language, will come to worship You and bow down before You. In the Name of Yeshua we pray and bless you, Amen.
