Cool change had just started sweeping through Taipei. Walking home in a light jacket, I was on the verge of shivering. Or perhaps I was brimming with excitement.
I had just parted with sister L, a new guest I hosted with Pastor Jamie on the evening of November 18th. This was the second time, after leaving the pastor’s home and walking toward the MRT station, that an Israeli guest personally asked me about my journey of faith. She listened intently; absorbing every detail, then said, “You have come a long way”.
“Yes,” I agreed. “Adonai has many more adventures planned for me. And He will also show you the way if you seek Him and ask Him,” I answered. This trip was her search for direction in the next stage of her life.
I recalled our dinner earlier that evening, Pastor Jamie shared how the Lord led her through a battle with cancer, the passing of her mother, and how the Lord transformed all her pain and tears into new songs and fresh anointing. Sister L listened with deep focus, and her hands neatly folded on the table. Though a delicious meal was set before us, it was the conversation that truly resonated with her.
The night before, Pastor Jamie had asked the intercessors to pray for prophetic blessings for L. As those words were spoken, she joyfully affirmed each one, saying they were all spot on. One prayer was even for her mother’s sleep – so timely, since her mother works as an ombudsman, constantly resolving conflicts.
There was also a word of knowledge about sister L’s deep love for nature, plants and animals. It matched perfectly with what she had shared earlier – that she had just spent time on a farm to draw closer to nature.
After dinner, we walked to Pastor Jamie’s home, where we enjoyed a small Kombucha party, presented the gifts we had prepared, shared a Bible story, and prayed for sister L. Along the way, Pastor Jamie testified how the Lord comforted her with a Bauhinia tree, and how the Lord answered prayers to transform her neighbourhood. Sister L drank up deeply on each of the testimonies.
As we concluded the evening in prayer, Pastor Jamie also shared a vision she saw while praying for Sister L. “I will remember tonight. Your stories, your prayers – they are all amazing,” Sister L repeatedly with gratitude.
As I walked with sister L to the MRT station, she asked me if I could also see visions like Pastor Jamie. Questions like this excite me, because they open the way to share that a relationship with Adonai is a journey each one of us invited into.
When we reached her station, we embraced in farewell. She said again, “I will remember tonight.” After another embrace, we blessed one another and parted ways.
In the cold night air, my heart expanded – because I knew that a beautiful soul had just encountered her Creator.
